Preparations for APEC Meeting Continue with International Economic Summit
Preparations for the 2012 APEC Summit meeting continue as local and international participants gathered in Vladivostok September 25-27 for a conference entitled "International Trade in the Asia-Pacific Region: Legal and Economic Issues." Participants at the forum gathered to discuss the importance of strengthening the legal framework for trade among Pacific Rim countries. Supreme Court judges from several countries in the region were among the regulatory and legal experts in attendance. Consul General Tom Armbruster spoke at the opening session, stressing the benefits of trade as a means of promoting peace among nations and Governor Sergei Darkin outlined the region's ambitious development plans. The forum highlights efforts by regional authorities to increase the city's international profile leading up to the APEC summit.
