Vladivostok's chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) celebrated its 15th Anniversary on February 9 at the Arsenyev State Museum, with a presentation by Consulate nurse Kate Heyden. Kate talked about the history of AA, founded in 1935 in the United States, and the growth of the 12-Step Program throughout the world to treat not just alcoholism, but other disorders as well. She also discussed increasingly successful treatments using a combination of medications and counseling to treat alcoholism. CG Tom Armbruster presented welcoming remarks and discussed the impact of alcoholism on family lives.
