On March 17, Public Affairs Section Vladivostok invited Moscow-based
NPR correspondent, Gregory Feifer, to meet with journalism majors
at the Institute of Mass Communication of the Far East National
University. The meeting turned into a lively discussion about the
various challenges of modern journalism, careers in journalism,
and the role of public broadcasting in civil society, and as an
alternative to commercial broadcasting. PAO Bridget Gersten opened
the event, and Consul General Tom Armbruster took questions from
the students about U.S.-Russia relations, democracy, and globalization,
as well as various personal questions about his media and diplomatic
experience.
