Vladivostok Culinary Festival 2009
The Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) for the fifth time participated in the Primorskiy Culinary Festival which took place this year in Vladivostok on October 13-15. The basis for the Festival was based on two main principles: products that were available were affordable and persons exhibiting were experienced. Consul General Tom Armbruster greeted participants and organizers at the opening ceremony. For the first time in Russia, the Festival hosted a MASTER STEAK Championship, in which participants competed in their preparation of steaks utilizing American beef. Dana Johnson, Director of ATO Russia, Jeff Rotering, Consular Officer, and Galina Kochubeyeva, US Meat Export Federation representative, made up three of the four members of the jury. US Meat Export Federation also presented a master class devoted to American beef and pork.
The ATO information booth was visited by more than 300 Far Eastern restaurant business professionals and more than five thousand Festival guests. For the first time, the “American Products School” master class introduced pecan nuts and Makers’ Mark bourbon whiskey into a Washington apple pie recipe. Chef Sergey Klimenko also presented examples of how to use such American products as pork and beef, California wine and grapes, US Northwest pears, and canned vegetables.
