From Vladivostok to Porto: Young American Cyclists Speak at American Corner
On April 10, PAS Vladivostok helped to organize a lecture by two American adventure seekers at the Vladivostok American Corner. Young but experienced travelers, Ellery Althaus and Levi Bridges, both 26 years old, decided to travel from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean, leaving the least possible impact on the areas they pass through. In doing so, they are actively advocating alternative forms of transportation and bicycle use, while raising awareness about collective responsibility to utilize renewable forms of energy throughout the world. At the seminar, they showed their gear, including portable solar panels that they will use along their way to power up their gadgets. Their idea is to show a wide variety of people and cultures that if they can successfully utilize clean energy technology in extreme situations, so can others all over the world. During their presentation, the riders engaged in a lively Q&A.
