U.S. and Russian Experience in Biotechnology Development
On December 19, Consul General Tom Armbruster visited Pacific State University of Economics to participate in the seminar “Biotechnology as a main factor of healthy food securing” based on Russian and U.S. experience. The seminar was arranged and run by Director of Institute of Food Technologies and Commodity Science Tatyana Kalenik. Nominated by Vladivostok Agricultural Trade Office, Tatyana traveled to the U.S. in fall 2008 to participate in the International Visitors Program (IVLP) “U.S. Experience in Using Agricultural Biotechnology for Economic Growth”. In his opening remarks, CG Tom Armbruster expressed his hope that Tatyana would share her experience with colleagues by giving seminars at local universities on the topic, thus making significant contributions to local biotechnology development in the sphere of healthy food.
