U.S. Consul General Visits Khabarovsk

During the week of November 15th, Consul General Sylvia Reed Curran visited Khabarovsk and met with Mayor Aleksandr Nikolayevich SOKOLOV, Head Representative of the Republic of Sakha Mr. Georgiy Dmitrievich NIKONOV, and Library Director of the Khabarovsk Regional Library Ms. Irina Viktorovna FILATKINA. She had discussions on a number of topics, including the sister city relationships that Khabarovsk has with Portland, and Sakha has with Anchorage. Ms. Curran discussed opportunities for investment in Yakutia, and, with the Mayor of Khabarovsk, the successful entrepreneurship programs that has made Khabarovsk number two on Forbes Magazines’s list of small and medium enterprise development in Russia. Ms. Curran spoke with approximately 40 residents of Khabarovsk at the American Corner about her life as a diplomat, and was interviewed by a local TV station.
