Consul General Visits Yakutiya

Consul General Sylvia Reed Curran paid an official visit October 8-12 to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutiya). She met with President Yegor Borisov, Minister for Federal and Foreign Relations Valeriy Maksimov, Deputy Minister of Federal and Foreign Relations Faina Sokolova, North Eastern Federal University Rector Yevgeniya Mikhaylova, and other officials. While in Yakutiya, the Consul General participated in the Cold Lands Workshop Opening Ceremony, which was co-sponsored by her alma mater, the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and opened the Russian America exhibit at the university. In addition, she met with alumni of U.S. exchange programs as well as visited the underground laboratory of the Institute of Permafrost, the International Center of National Music (Khomus Museum), a gas processing plant, and a diamond factory. It was a very interesting visit.
