Fulbrighter Gives a Taste of Poetry and Music at American Corner

On October 29th, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant David Kessel continued his bi-weekly presentations at the American Center in Vladivostok on American poetry and music.  The series started two weeks ago with American poet, William Carlos Williams.  This week’s event focused on jazz legend, Ella Fitzgerald, and consisted of a presentation of her life and work, followed by a listening of six of her songs along with the texts, a brief discussion, and some singing-along.  Around fifteen people were in attendance, including English Language Fellow, Allyson Kellum, as well as a number of students, professionals and FLEX alumni; these events are a great outlet for anyone wanting to engage some great American art and culture, or simply practice their English.
