Is There Such a Thing as the “American Dream?”
Senior English Language Fellow Robyn Shifrin addressed the question to the Vladivostok American Corner visitors on October 23rd. Ms. Shifrin presented her documentary "The American Dream" and discussed the relevance of the American Dream as the foundation of American culture. The documentary includes interviews with Russian immigrants, first, second, and third generation Americans from multiple regions and socioeconomic groups throughout the United States. She interviewed CEOs from large corporations (such as Kentucky Fried Chicken) and discussed their views of the American Dream and whether it still exists. Following the film, she conducted a question and answer session on current American culture and values.
