Pacific Meridian Welcomes USA

On September 19-25, the 7th Annual Vladivostok International Film Festival welcomed representatives of all nations to share their values through the art of cinematography. With support from the US Consulate General in Vladivostok, the guests from the United States conducted numerous activities during the course of the festival.   NASA astronaut Alvin Drew and space historian Roger Launius shared their experiences by presenting a special “films in space” program during the festival.  Young American filmmaker Sean Baker presented his movie ‘Prince of Broadway’ in the feature film competition and received "The Best Director" prize!  The guest of honor, American film producer Mimi Song launched joint projects on educational and cultural cooperation between Primorye and California.  Outstanding Californian guitar players from Omar Torrez Band (http://www.omartorrez.com) enriched the festival program through their music.  Historian Rock Brynner, the son of Vladivostok born actor Yul Brynner and honorary guest of the festival, contributed significantly to the history of the region, by relating the exhilarating and factual experiences that his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather contributed to Vladivostok.
