Through Civic Initiatives to Local Community Development in Pozharsky Raion of Primorye
On November 28, USAID Program Representative in the RFE, Irina Lindberg, joined the experts from the Foundation for Sustainable Development on their site visit and financial training in Luchegorsk Municipality of Primorye region, participating in the USAID-funded Community Development Support Program (CDSP) in the Russian Federation. Participants of the site visit and financial training shared their successes and lessons learned during the initial stage of program implementation. While the Luchegorsk Municipal Administration focused on Implementation of a complex of measures to ensure safe living conditions in town (such as modernization of the light lines in the streets of the settlement; installation of the new energy-efficient lamps that will provide better quality illumination of dangerous parts of the roads; installation of a system of public video monitoring and recording on busy crossings of the settlement and in local schools), NGO “Pervotsvet” – a Socio-Environmental Organization of Luchegorsk - will unite initiative groups and citizens and organize environmental and social volunteer activities and events in Luchegorsk and other settlements. Community members, including youth, will be involved in these activities. An Information Agency will be opened at the Center with the aim of uniting public media outlets in the community and covering project complex activities.
