Consul General Opens International Education Week in Vladivostok
November 15, 2011
On November 15, Consul General Sylvia Curran welcomed about 40 students and administrators of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) at the opening event of a week-long series of programs marking the International Education Week (IEW). The event was a Digital Video Conference (DVC) organized by American Councils. In her remarks CG Curran pointed out the importance of international education in the modern world and the effort by the U.S. Consulate General and American Councils to promote international education and USG-sponsored exchange programs. The DVC linked current FEFU students with Evgheniy Bugrov, a FEFU alumnus who is currently a student at Northeastern University in Boston. Bugrov, who was a frequent visitor to American Councils’ Education USA Center and a recipient of the USG grant “Opportunity Program,” shared his experience of choosing among and applying to US universities.
