Junior Achievement Fosters Innovative Business Ideas in Vladivostok

On November 21, CG Tom Armbruster, Pol/Econ Officer Steven Kovacsics and USAID Program Representative in the Russian Far East Irina Lindberg attended the Primorye Region Office workshop of Junior Achievement.  The two-day event, “Ideas without Borders”, is part of the International Week of Entrepreneurship supported by many countries.  Guests from the U.S. Consulate welcomed more than 100 event participants from 12 high schools, 5 Universities and business consultants from local companies.  The event included an interactive game and Internet testing of Corporate Social Responsibility skills aimed at developing entrepreneurship among youth aged 15-19.  The hope is to reduce the outflow of qualified young personnel from the Russian Far East.  CG and Pol/Econ Officer wished the participants luck in winning the Grand Prize in the all-Russia and international competitions.  The teens will present their innovative ideas on how to attract youth to go in for sports and more active healthy life styles.
