USAID Supports Cooperation among Government, Business and Civil Society to Decrease Administrative Barriers and Fight Corruption

From April 24 - 26, USAID RFE Coordinator Irina Lindberg participated in a workshop facilitated by trainers from Heartland International under the START program of the Academy for Educational Development (AED) in Khabarovsk. Three days of sessions included topics on democracy, transparency and the need for collaboration between government, the business community and NGOs, as well as advocacy, lobbying and business ethics. Participants were able to discuss the role of business associations and NGOs as the voices of public interests and the role of regional/local government in simplifying administrative procedures. Participants also broke into groups to work out mechanisms for communication with mass media.
