Impact of American Popular Culture on Current American Politics

On October 26, U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok held a DVC conference with U.S. Consulate General in Naha, Okinawa, through an electronic bridge provided by the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. The guest speaker in Naha was Dr. Kathryn L. Seidel, a Fulbright Scholar who specializes in American literature, gender issues, and and ethnic minorities. The topic of her presentation was "Pop President: American Popular Culture and the 2008 Presidential Election ". The talk gave an overview on the origins of American popular culture and then turned to questions about what Americans want their president to be.
