Consul General Visits the Town of Plastun on Northern Primorye Coast

On May 22, Consul General Tom Armbruster, Political Officer Stephen Kovacsics, and representatives of USAID visited the town of Plastun on the northern coast of Primorye. The delegation attended a conference on regional development projects, visited a local elementary school, and took a tour of the Terneyles Lumber factory. The conference attracted several leaders of local NGOs who discussed their regional development programs. At the Lumber plant, CG Armbruster discussed with company officials the possibility of further purchases of American equipment for the facility. The trip highlighted the various successful social development projects in the area, and illustrated how a prosperous business can be maintained in rural areas of the Russian Far East.
