Rock Brynner Back in Vladivostok!
In September, Rock Brynner, son of the famous Hollywood actor Yul Brynner, visited Vladivostok again - this time, to participate in the 7th Vladivostok International Film festival. His visit was sponsored by the U.S. State Department and organized by the U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok. During his stay, Rock actively participated in festival events and gave lectures at various Vladivostok universities as well as at the famous Arsenev Museum. His lectures dealt with a number of thought-provoking topics, from "Global Journalism in the Internet Age," "American Language and American National Character Adaptations," " Russian Influence in Hollywood and on Broadway," "Challenges of Mutual Perception," to "The Social and Political Impact of Rock 'n' Roll in America and the West." On September 24, Professor Brynner took part in the conference "Russian and American Societies: Challenges of Mutual Perception," organized by the Far Eastern State University. The students were pleased to listen to such stimulating presentations. Professor Brynner readily responded to student's enquiries regarding his personal tastes in music, his beliefs on climate change, and his views on a number of global issues requiring international cooperation.
