Vladivostok American Corner Gets a Taste of Rural America
On November 25, Consular Officer Jeff Rotering and his spouse visited the Vladivostok American Corner to talk to an audience of 25 people about Life in the Rural America, using their native state, North Dakota, as an example. Both Jeff and his wife were born and raised on farms in North Dakota and delighted the audience with their first-hand experience of farm and small town life in a community of several hundred people. The topic was not very familiar to Russians and the speaker was able to provide many interesting facts and figures and provoke some serious questions and thoughts, for example, about genetically modified crops, global climate change, and federal support provided for farmers.
