Healthy Life Skills Roundtable Held in Vladivostok

On September 24th, Jess Bratton, USAID Senior Advisor, Moscow, and USAID Program Representative in the Russian Far East Irina Lindberg joined over 15 participants of the Round Table "Health rhythm - to youth". The event was organized by the USAID-funded LIDER program in Vladivostok, in partnership with the Far Eastern  Scientific Center for Local Governance, Khabarovsk. Deputies of the Vladivostok Duma, Vladivostok Administration specialists from the health, education and youth policy departments, representatives of Primorsky Region drug abuse clinics, directors of city schools and polyclinics as well as mass media representatives got together at the conference-hall of the Vladivostok Duma. The LIDER program gave them the opportunity to discuss various issues related to traditional and new approaches to promoting healthy lifestyles in schools.  Areas of discussion included the awareness on the part of schoolchildren of the harmful influences that using drugs, alcohol and/or smoking can have on them, and, municipal policies that exist in the area of sanitation-hygiene education of youth.
