In Alliance with USAID to Economic Development and Sustainability in Rural Primorye
On November 28, USAID Program Representative in the RFE, Irina Lindberg, met with the heads of Nagornoye and Pozharsky settlements of the Primorye Pozharsky region involved in the activities of Municipal Community Alliances Program (MuCAP) implemented by Khabarovsk Krai Charitable Public Organization “Green House” with the USAID financial support. Participants shared their successes and lessons learned during the first two years of program implementation. The Nagornoe group focused on uniting inhabitants for jointly holding farms and solving water supply problems. They collected 3,500 to 8,000 rubles as donations from each house to purchase and transport supplies, and then distributed obligations. They helped welders, made trenches, and installed pipes and water lock equipment. Additionally, the raion administration added 40,000 rubles to the water-supply system project. Settlement head Victor Savenko noted that thanks to MuCAP assistance he now has active partners to rely on.
