U.S. Consul General Welcomes Municipals and Youth at the Joint Event of USAID Partners
On December 15, US Consul General Tom Armbruster welcomed the participants of the USAID-funded seminar "Local Government in the Russian Far East", jointly implemented by FRAEC's partner under the U.S.-Russian Far East Municipal Partnership Program, the Far East Center for Social Innovation, and Winrock International under the LIDER Program. Over 30 experts from several RFE municipalities and youth of Khabarovsky and Primorye regions came to Vladivostok for a five-day workshop to discuss various issues regarding self-governance in the RFE with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of local government and municipal youth policy, their current status, issues and solutions. Over a dozen youth projects were presented to the seminar participants and USG guests on the third day of the seminar, as a result of the first year of the LIDER program’s activities in the RFE. The Director of the Far Eastern Scientific Center for Local Self-Governance highlighted the opportunities for potential cooperation of youth and municipal experts on various governmental projects. Chief of Parties for FRAEC’s and Winrock’s programs updated the Vladivostok CG and USAID Program Representative in the RFE on the current status of their program achievements and further developments.
