The U.S.-Russian Far East Municipal Partnership Program Conference Held in Khabarovsk

On May 27-29, over 60 municipal experts from the West coast of the USA and the RFE took part in a USAID-funded U.S.-Russian Far East Municipal Partnership Program Conference organized by the Foundation for Russian American Economic Cooperation (FRAEC). U.S. Consul General Tom Armbruster and the USAID Assessment team lead by James Carlson, ORD Director, welcomed conference participants to the ship Vasily Poyarkov. The goal of the gathering was to share experiences and best practices and to further improve communications and cooperation among the network of professionals and community leaders in the Russian Far East. The ship departed Khabarovsk on May 27 and made a stop at the indigenous settlement Sikachi-Alyan' where 14-thousand-year-old cave drawings were discovered just over 50 years ago, and where USAID has been working with the local indigenous Nanai community.
