USAID Mission Director Travels to Vladivostok
June 2 - 4, 2009, the USAID Mission Director for Russia, Leon (Skip) Waskin, visited Vladivostok for meetings with U.S. Consul General Tom Armbruster regarding USAID Assessment findings in the Russian Far East (RFE). During the outbrief, RFE Assessment team leader Steve Giddings stressed that the United States is the largest and most recognized bilateral international donor in the region and that USAID has developed credibility with many local leaders. During his stay in the RFE, the USAID Director together with the Consul general, Office of Regional Development Director James Carlson and USAID managers, visited USAID partners in Vladivostok, Artem, and Slavyanka, to discuss ongoing cooperation in the areas of health, governance, rule of law, environment, economic growth, employment and others.
