The Agricultural Trade Office (ATO)
The
Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) in Vladivostok was established by
the Foreign Agricultural Service
(FAS) of the U.S. Department
of Agriculture to promote exports of U.S. food and agricultural
products to the Russian Far East. Working closely with the head
office at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and another regional ATO in
St. Petersburg, the ATO Vladivostok offers a wide range of programs
and services that are designed to help link U.S. exporters and Russian
buyers:
Trade Leads
This service is designed to help Russian buyers develop direct
contact with suppliers of U.S. food and agricultural products. Based
on information provided by the importer (click
to see the form), the ATO sends a detailed product inquiry to
FAS/Washington. This inquiry is then distributed among American
companies. Interested U.S. suppliers/exporters respond directly
to the Russian importer.
Buyer Alert
Buyer Alert is a cost-effective marketing tool for U.S. companies
and an important resource for Russian importers. This publication
is distributed biweekly to buyers of food and agricultural products
in approximately 70 countries, including Russia. To receive a free
subscription to Buyer Alert, buyers/importers in the Russian Far
East should contact the ATO Vladivostok.
U.S. Supplier Lists
The U.S. Suppliers List is a searchable database of over 5,000
U.S. exporters of food and agricultural products identified by over
500 product categories. The database helps foreign buyers locate
and make contact with these suppliers. Buyers/importers in the Russian
Far East should contact the ATO
Vladivostok for more information.
Foreign Buyer Lists
The ATO regularly receives inquiries from U.S. exporters seeking
contact information on potential Russian importers of food and agricultural
products. To respond to these requests, the ATO maintains a database
of Russian importers identified by the products they import. Buyers/importers
in the Russian Far East who wish to be included in this database
should contact the ATO Vladivostok.
Cochran Program
This FAS-managed program provides short-term training on topics
related to agriculture, such as food safety, food retail management,
food processing and other a wide range of other subjects. For additional
information, please contact the ATO Vladivostok.
Market Reports
The ATO Vladivostok works closely with the head office at the U.S.
Embassy in Moscow to prepare reports highlighting trends and market
opportunities in the Russian food retail, hotel and restaurant,
and food processing sectors. In addition, the Exporter's Guide to
the Russian Market for Food and Agricultural Products provides detailed
information on how to do business in the Russian market. U.S. exporters
may request copies of these reports by contacting the ATO or by
visiting the FAS home page.
Trade Shows
The ATO Moscow, in close coordination with the ATO Vladivostok
and St. Petersburg and the FAS Trade Show Office, coordinates U.S.
exhibits in several national and regional shows. These shows
give U.S. companies the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Russian
importers and see the local market first-hand. The ATO also keeps
local companies informed about key trade shows in the United States
and other countries and may organize Russian buyer missions to selected
shows (see Trade Missions below).
Trade Missions
The ATO, in cooperation with the FAS Trade Show Office in Washington
or other U.S. industry groups, may organize U.S. trade missions
to Russia. Such missions help U.S. exporters establish new trade
contacts and assess the market potential for their products in Russia.
The ATO may also organize teams of Russian buyers to visit major
trade shows in the United States and other countries. For more information
about trade shows and missions, please contact the ATO.
The ATO is located in the U.S. Consulate General, 32 Pushkinskaya
Street, Vladivostok. Business hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday
through Friday. The office is closed on Russian and American holidays.
