Crew Member Visas - C1/D

This visa is issued for aircraft crew members flying to the U.S. regularly, and for seamen going to join their vessel in the U.S. (not an American vessel).

In order to receive an aircraft crew member's visa it is necessary to submit passports, qualification certificates, and an official letter from the airline company listing all the crew members entering the U.S. and the date of entry.

For vessel crew members, seamen passports and letters from the agent in the U.S. and shipping company in Russia providing the following must be submitted:

  1. Crew list (job description needed);
  2. Itinerary of crew member;
  3. Name, address, phone and fax numbers of an agent company in the U.S.;
  4. Name, registry number and flag of registration of the vessel;
  5. Last foreign port of call and date of departure before entry to the U.S.;
  6. Next foreign port of call (ship's itinerary)
  7. Type of vessel and purpose of entry;
  8. Method of salary payment.

Qualification certificates and proof of prior travel as seamen (workbooks, certificates, prior passports etc.) are required for vessel crew members applying for the first time or/and with new passports.

Air and sea crew member visas are multiple entry visas valid for two years (application fee is $131). Visa issuance fee for sea crew member visas is $131. Visa issuance is free for air crew member visas.

The Consulate accepts and reviews visa applications for ship crew members on a case-by-case basis. In accordance with the U.S. immigration law and visa regulations, and in view of increased security measures, the Consular Section is no longer able to issue "crew list visas." We endeavor to ensure the continued timely review and processing of C-1/D visa applications for individual crew members.
