Application for Tourist or Business Visas
Applicants for the following visas may wish to bring the applicable
listed information in addition to the documentation needed for all
Nonimmigrant Visas. There is no set formula on the type of documentation
required for obtaining a Nonimmigrant Visa. Each applicant must
decide for his or herself what items to bring in order to demonstrate
that they have sufficient social, economic and family ties to their
home country.
Visa for Tourism
- Itinerary of trip
- Information about hotel and/or flight reservations
- Details about cost, how it is being financed, etc.
- Information about the travel agency in Russia or in the U.S.
Visa for Business Travel
- Information about the Russian company:
- Articles of Incorporation /bylaws/registration certificate
- License(s)/tax returns
- Accounting books/company balances
- Business correspondence for the last several years
- Information about the U.S. company:
- Registration documents
- Tax returns/reports
- Advertisements
- Documents showing the relations between the companies:
- Business correspondence
- Contracts/invoices/ customs declarations
- Bank transfers
Visa for Visiting Friends and Relatives
- The specific reason for the visit and its length:
- Invitation (for wedding, graduation, etc.)
- Correspondence (letters, faxes, emails, etc.)
- Nature of the relations (marriage and/or birth certificates,
pictures, etc.)
- Letter from the employer confirming vacation
- Information regarding finances (how the trip is being
paid for):
- Tax returns
- Pay checks
- Bank statements
Note: You do not need a notarized invitation letter or form.
Please ask your American contacts/friends NOT to buy these. If you
bring such a form to the interview, the consul will not necessarily
ask to see it. We prefer to see normal, preexisting business or
family correspondence.
